A Life to Live, A Light to Shine

I wrote this poem after my final breathwork session in Stage 1 of my Breathwork Mastery RBM training, in December last year.

As I finished breathing- long, slow, fuller than usual breaths, I found these words come quietly. As I reflected on everything that had unfolded over the preceding months, these words began to emerge. There had been learning, growth, challenge, curiosity, connection, and moments of insight that seemed to arrive when I least expected them.

The poem is a reminder of something I find myself returning to often: life is happening now. Not when we have everything figured out. Not when we feel completely ready. Not when the conditions are perfect.

Now.

Breath by breath.
Step by step.
Moment by moment.

As someone who spends a lot of time exploring nervous system regulation, connection and wellbeing, I am continually reminded that so much of life can be found in the small moments—the moments where we pause, take a breath, notice what is here, and choose to engage with life just as it is.

The final lines of this poem speak to something that feels especially important to me:

"We take our next steps, wobbly, unsure and maybe some fear,
but with capacity, groundedness and our full presence here."

Growth does not require certainty. Often it simply asks us to be present enough to take the next step.

As I continue in the next stage of my breathwork journey, I carry with me a deep appreciation for all that this experience has taught me so far. Not only about breathwork, but about myself.

I hope these words offer you a gentle reminder to pause, take a breath, and reconnect with what matters most.

Because there is a life to live and a light to shine—and that opportunity exists in this very moment.
