How I found Breathwork Mastery RBM: A Journey into the Breathe.

Long before I discovered breathwork, I was fascinated by the experience of being underwater.

As I swam beneath the surface, there was a sense of calm, stillness and presence that kept drawing me back. I didn't know it then, but those moments would spark a lifelong curiosity about the breath and its capacity to transform the way we experience ourselves and the world around us.

I would dive beneath the surface and stay there for as long as I could, gliding through the water lap after lap. Looking back, it wasn't about holding my breath or seeing how long I could stay under. What I remember most was the feeling.

Everything became quiet.

There was a sense of peace, stillness and contentment that I couldn't explain at the time. The noise of the world faded away. My mind settled. My body felt safe.

For years, I carried that experience with me without fully understanding why it felt so significant. What I did know was that I had always been fascinated by the breath and the profound effect it could have on how we feel, think and move through the world.

That curiosity eventually led me to Breathwork Mastery RBM.

A Lifelong Curiosity Becomes a Journey

For much of my professional life, I have spoken with children, parents, educators and families about the power of the breath.

I've shared breathing strategies to help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, support emotional wellbeing and create moments of calm during challenging times.

I knew the breath was powerful.

But somewhere deep inside, I also sensed there was more.

I felt there was a deeper way of working with the breath—one that moved beyond simply managing stress and into something more transformational.

When I discovered Breathwork Mastery RBM, I found what I had been searching for.

Over the past eighteen months, I have been immersed in training through The School of Breathwork, learning this powerful body and breath process and experiencing its impact firsthand.

And what a journey it has been.

What is Breathwork Mastery RBM?

At its heart, Breathwork Mastery RBM is a tool for conscious connected living.

It is a body and breath process that supports us to have life go in the way we intend.

RBM uses a long, slow, fuller-than-usual conscious connected breath through the nose. It is subtle, gentle and deeply supportive.

While there is science behind why it works, one of the things I appreciate most about Breathwork Mastery is that you don't need to fully understand the mechanics for it to be effective.

You simply engage with the process and allow yourself to experience it.

This style of breathing supports the parasympathetic branch of our nervous system—the part often referred to as our "rest and digest" system. As our system begins to feel safe, supported and regulated, we create space for healing, integration, awareness and change.

The Three Parts of an Breathwork Mastery RBM Session

A Breathwork Mastery RBM session consists of three interconnected parts:

Intention Setting

Every session begins with setting a meaningful intention.

Rather than focusing on what is wrong, we ask a simple yet powerful question:

What would you prefer to have happening in life?

This intention becomes our compass for the session.

The Breath Cycle

Participants then engage in a 90-minute breath cycle using the conscious connected breathing pattern.

Throughout the session, we are invited to meet ourselves exactly where we are.

Nothing needs to be fixed.

Nothing needs to be forced.

Everything that arises is welcome.

Debrief

After the breath cycle, we explore the experience through a guided debrief.

This is a supportive, agenda-free and non-judgemental space that honours each person's inner wisdom and unique experience.

The debrief helps connect what emerged during the session with the original intention, creating opportunities for deeper understanding and integration.

There Is No Right Way to Experience Breathwork

One of the things I love most about RBM is that there is no "correct" experience.

Each session is unique.

People may experience sensations in the body such as warmth, tingling, relaxation, tension or energy moving through them.

Thoughts, memories, insights and awarenesses may arise.

Emotions can emerge—from joy and gratitude to sadness, anger, grief or compassion.

Some people also describe deeply meaningful spiritual experiences, whether that is a profound connection to nature, a sense of oneness, a conversation with a higher power, or simply feeling more connected to themselves than ever before.

Everything is included.

Nothing is wrong.

The invitation is simply to stay with whatever arises and continue breathing.

The Changes I Never Expected

My own experience with Breathwork Mastery RBM has been difficult to put into words.

Some shifts have been subtle.

Others have been so significant that the people around me have noticed them too.

The greatest change has been the expansion of my capacity.

My capacity to be with my own emotions.

My capacity to be with my child's big feelings.

My capacity to be with the challenges and uncertainties of life.

Not because life has become easier, but because I have developed greater resilience, compassion and trust in my ability to move through whatever arises.

Coming Full Circle

Recently during a breathwork session, I had a vivid image of myself swimming underwater.

Lap after lap.

The same feeling I remembered from childhood returned.

No panic.

No fear.

No striving.

Just complete presence.

The water around me.

My body feeling safe.

My mind at peace.

In that moment, I realised I had come full circle.

The feeling I had been searching for wasn't lost.

It had been there all along, waiting for me to rediscover it through the breath.

An Invitation

I often find myself wishing that everyone could experience that feeling of deep connection, safety, peace and contentment.

Not because life would suddenly become perfect, but because we would move through it differently.

With more presence.

More compassion.

More love.

As I continue sharing my Breathwork Mastery journey, I look forward to bringing you stories, reflections and insights from my own experiences and learning.

For now, perhaps the invitation is simply this:

Take a longer, slower, fuller than usual breath.

In through your nose and out through your nose.

Consciously breath your inhale and let go on your exhale.

Take one conscious connected breath.

Then another.

And notice what changes.

Sometimes the smallest moments of awareness become the beginning of something truly transformational.
